Stacie-Ann Shaw -- Artsy Yaadie
Profile
Stacie‐Ann Shaw is an architect with a passion for the fine arts. Her work is heavily inspired by life and culture in the Caribbean and colorful, contemporary folk art.
She initially honed her skills in drawing, painting and craft while attending the Wolmer’s Girls High School in Jamaica and knew she needed a career aligned to the arts. After becoming an Architect, she realized just how much her artistic expression was a great part of her personal journey and decided to keep working at it. Thus, her brand and moniker, Artsy Yaadie (artistic person from “yaad” i.e., Jamaica), was born.
Stacie‐Ann currently lives in Codrington, Barbuda where she has a home studio specializing in oil paints on canvas and an ‘art yaad’ where several community creative projects are executed. She advocates the development of the orange economy there and has developed art programs including the annual ‘Barbuda Youth Art Workshop and Contest’, ‘Youth Conch Shell Painting’, and group paint events.
She has exhibited her work at multiple locations in Barbuda, Mexico and Jamaica, including the prestigious National Gallery of Jamaica. Her works are also seen on her website www.artsyyaadie.com and artsyyaadie on Facebook and Instagram.
